You only get one chance at this moment
Planning a proposal is exciting, but it comes with pressure. In addition to photographing proposals, I’ve also done it myself. You want it to feel natural. You want her reaction, not a setup. And you only get one chance to get it right.
My role is to quietly handle the parts you should not have to think about. I help you plan the timing and logistics, stay out of sight, and capture the real moment as it actually happens.
The moment should feel like yours, not a performance
When the question is asked, your only job is to be present. Everything else has already been taken care of.

The best proposal spots
in Richmond
Location matters more than most people realize. The right spot affects privacy, timing, foot traffic, lighting, and how natural the moment feels.
Maymont
Classic and romantic, with multiple private spots and backup options if one area is reserved for a wedding.
Libby Hill Park
Iconic skyline overlook. Best near sunset, but can get busy on weekends.
Byrd Park
Or another park. Great if you want a private vibe without the crowd.
Belle Isle
Natural and adventurous. Works well for outdoorsy couples who want something less traditional.
How it works
01
Reach out
Share your date, general plan, and whether you need help picking a location.
02
Planning call
We talk through timing, positioning, backup plans, and what happens immediately after the proposal.
03
You propose
I arrive early, position myself discreetly, and capture the moment as it unfolds. Once she says yes, I’ll step in for a short engagement session before you leave.
Three proposal styles
Every proposal is different. I’ll help you choose what feels most natural.
I can share real examples of each style when you reach out.
Option One
Fully candid
You pick the spot and moment. I’m already in position at a distance. Ideally, she never notices me until after you propose.
most popular
Option Two
"Spontaneous" introduction
I briefly approach as a friendly photographer and offer to take a quick photo. That creates a natural setup for the proposal without ruining the surprise.
Option Three
Planned photoshoot
We meet for photos first, and you propose at a moment we’ve coordinated in advance. Works well if you pretend you’ve hired a “family photographer” if you want to propose in front of family.
Simple, all-inclusive coverage
Most proposals take less than an hour, but they take planning, timing, and trust.
$400
- Up to 1 hour of coverage
- Planning help leading up to the proposal (most clients text me day-of to stay coordinated)
- 60–100 professionally edited photos
- Same-day sneak peeks
- Drone coverage when location allows
Optional free bonus: Behind-the-scenes video if you’d like it. Captured on Ray-Ban Meta glasses showing the moment from my perspective.
Have unique requirements? I’m happy to create a custom offer.
Same-day
sneak peeks
I know you’ll want to share this moment right away. You’ll receive 3-10 photos the same day—usually within a few hours—so you can post, text family, or just relive it while everything still feels surreal.
The full gallery follows within two weeks.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if it rains or plans change?
We’ll have a backup plan in place. Most outdoor locations have covered areas or indoor alternatives nearby. If the weather shifts last-minute, I’ll give you options on how we can proceed.
Will my partner notice you?
Most of the time, no. I position myself like any other person enjoying the location—sitting on a bench, looking at my phone, or pretending to photograph the landscape. I use a long lens so I can stay far enough back that she won’t notice me until after you propose.
Do you help with location planning?
Yes. I’ve photographed proposals at most of the popular Richmond spots and can tell you what works best based on time of day, privacy, and your vision. If you’re between two locations, I’ll help you decide.
Can I see full proposal galleries?
Absolutely. I have full galleries available to share before or after our planning phone call so you can see how different proposal styles and locations turn out.
